Medication Management

Medication Management Specialists

“It is common that patients are over/under medicated and it is important for ongoing monitoring of medications because the ideal dose can change over time.”

With medication management, Dr. Ditzell will monitor the effectiveness of the prescribed medications, as well as the side effects (if any) and weigh the patients’ options. If the medication is not working effectively, adjustments will be made. At the Jeff Ditzell Psychiatry, we will sometimes utilize Assurex’s GeneSight test to find medications that will best work for the patient. This is a simple cheek-swab test to match specific medications that will work best based on the individual’s genetics.

Our Medication Management Process

Your first step is to call us to schedule your initial appointment.

Your initial evaluation session provides an opportunity for you to build rapport with the psychiatrist and provide them with some background about yourself and the reasons you are seeking Medication Management Treatment. In addition to seeing if you will be a good candidate for Medication Management, Dr. Ditzell will ask the patient questions about the side effects of the medication as well as overall functioning while taking the medication. The purpose is to make sure the medication is benefiting the patient while limiting the side effects.  He will also be able to answer your questions regarding services, confidentiality, and what to expect in treatment. With your best interests in mind, you will decide together what kind of treatment will benefit you the most.

At the end of your first session, if you decide to move forward and work with that psychiatrist, you will be asked to schedule further appointments. At your second appointment, you will work with your therapist to set goals for your overall mental health experience and then begin working together towards achieving them.

At Dr. Ditzell Psychiatry our patients have and always will be our number one priority; we take their health and well being very seriously and are pleased to be able to offer Medication Management in a manner like no other practice we’ve come across.
